Work
I have been a full-time employed music therapist with the Music Therapy Services of Simcoe County since 2018. The populations I see range from all ages and abilities in settings such as long-term care, group homes, schools, out of our own clinic, and virtually from home. I work with a variety of clients in the region to provide individual sessions, group recreational programming, and community care, in addition to adapted music lessons. I am also the Inclusivity and Advocacy Team Leader since 2020.
My thesis research poster “Music-Centered Music Therapy Interventions with the Viola” was presented at the 2018 CAMT Conference, and I was a co-presenter of “Women, Culture and Race in Music Therapy in Canada: An Invitation to Conversation” at the 2019 CAMT Conference.
I was a co-founding member of the Equity Advisory Council (EAC) to the CAMT since 2019. My experience in the area of equity lies in the personal study and exploration of intersectional feminism in my work and everyday life through readings, essays, and conversations.
What is CAMT to you?
CAMT is the joint effort to create a unified network of music therapists across Canada, in order to share our knowledge, strengthen our resilience, and use our expertise to best serve and support the communities we work within.
