The Board of Directors of CAMT consists of 5-10 Directors elected from the general membership for a 2 year term of office.
The executive committee consisting of 3-4 members is appointed from amongst the full slate of directors. CAMT presidents continue to represent us at national and international conferences and meetings as well as carrying out their executive duties.

Work
I have worked full time as a music therapist for 17 years, in long term care and inpatient mental health, for a mental health service provider in South Central Manitoba. I am an internship and practicum supervisor, and a guest lecturer for CMU in Winnipeg. I enjoy developing a humanistic, improvisatory approach with persons living with dementia, and contributing to recovery programs for persons with severe mental illness. Tools include voice, guitar and piano, with a side of cello and banjo.

Work
I currently operate a private practice in Canada and Bermuda with an awesome team of creative and inspiring music therapists. I personally work with a varied caseload of individuals including older adults with Dementia, children experiencing trauma or living on the spectrum, and adults navigating cancer and neurorehabilitation. I am big on building relationship and connection and practice from a holistic, person-centered approach.
Beyond direct client practice, innovation and advocacy are meaningful to my work including authoring two children's books (one about music therapy), co-hosting a podcast, developing resources, sitting on committees, and facilitating professional development workshops. In everything I do, I aim to provide an authentic experience that is respectful toward all people no matter their age, diagnosis, background, race, religion, identity, or additional social locators.

Work
My music therapy work has focused on older adults in long-term care homes and hospitals. As a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery, I am a trained practitioner in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music and provide individual and group sessions in private settings. My research interests include burnout among health care professionals and the professionalization of music therapy.

For the past ten years I have been a music therapist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital serving the pediatric community in Alberta and southern BC and Saskatchewan. I have also been part of the JB Music Therapy team since 2007. For the past two years I have co-facilitated a mindfulness and music group with the Carewest Operational Stress Injury Clinic in Calgary.

Work
Since 2015, I have been working as Music Therapist at the Centre de Pédiatrie Sociale de Laval with vulnerable children and adolescents who live with complex trauma and social hardships. I like my work at the Centre because it is primarily multi-disciplinary and I can share the music therapy vision of care with my colleagues. I also work with a few clients privately. I have also been a supervisor for music therapy interns.

An organization that allows MTAs to build a network, and connects Certified Music Therapists to other health professions, potential clients, and current and future students.

Work
I have been a full-time employed music therapist with the Music Therapy Services of Simcoe County since 2018. The populations I see range from all ages and abilities in settings such as long-term care, group homes, schools, out of our own clinic, and virtually from home. I work with a variety of clients in the region to provide individual sessions, group recreational programming, and community care, in addition to adapted music lessons. I am also the Inclusivity and Advocacy Team Leader since 2020.
My thesis research poster “Music-Centered Music Therapy Interventions with the Viola” was presented at the 2018 CAMT Conference, and I was a co-presenter of “Women, Culture and Race in Music Therapy in Canada: An Invitation to Conversation” at the 2019 CAMT Conference.
I was a co-founding member of the Equity Advisory Council (EAC) to the CAMT since 2019. My experience in the area of equity lies in the personal study and exploration of intersectional feminism in my work and everyday life through readings, essays, and conversations.

CAMT is the joint effort to create a unified network of music therapists across Canada, in order to share our knowledge, strengthen our resilience, and use our expertise to best serve and support the communities we work within.

After completing my Bachelor of Music, Honours Music Education, I pursued my Master of Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University, graduating in 2007. I completed my PhD in Music Education at Western University in 2019, where I conducted qualitative research regarding performance and its impact upon identity formation in community music therapy and community music settings. I have been an MTA since 2009 and an RP (Registered Psychotherapist) since 2015.
Work
I am an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University, where I coordinate the Bachelor of Music Therapy program. Prior to assuming this role in 2020, I was Laurier’s “Music Therapist-in-Residence” from 2017-2020, a position that encompassed teaching and supervising music therapy students, conducting practice-based research, and working clinically at Homewood Health Centre, a mental health and addictions facility in Guelph, ON.

Work
After a handful of years as a radio current affairs researcher, film critic and studio producer for Radio-Canada Vancouver, I began a three decade-long career in the not-for-profit sector as a grant writer, project manager, programme head and finally executive director of national and provincial organizations. My areas of activity have been adult education, family literacy, second language acquisition, minority language community development and political advocacy. I have also freelanced in the cultural and heritage sectors with two oral history projects as highlights.
What is CAMT to you?
CAMT is the centre of a national community of practice, and a persuasive advocate for the discipline of music therapy in Canada.

Work
I have been employed full time by CAMT since December of 2013. Among other things, I run the CAMT office, head up the planning of the national conference, process certification applications and support CAMT members whenever and wherever possible. I am honoured to be CAMT’s first employee and I’m passionate about helping Canadian music therapists get what they need to continue their important work. Prior to taking this position I worked in long term care doing both recreation and music therapy as well as group music therapy at a community living centre. I was on the CAMT Board of Directors as the website chair from September 2009 – October 2013.
