NEW MEMBERS

 

CAMT Advocate Membership
$267 – This is s a category for individuals and organizations who are not Certified Music Therapists (MTAs) nor on the path to obtaining the MTA credential but wish to support the work of Certified Music Therapists (MTAs) and music therapy in Canada.

 

CAMT Advocate Student Membership
$69 – This is a category for students in disciplines other than music therapy. This includes those who are taking pre-requisite courses in order to seek enrollment in a music therapy education program. (i.e. High school students, BMus students) and students in related areas of study.

 

Pre-Credentialed – Music Therapy Student
$69 – Anyone in a music therapy undergraduate or graduate program.

 

Pre-Credentialed – International
$69 – anyone with a music therapy credential from another country wanting to work as a music therapist in Canada.

Additional Information
To qualify for this category, the individual must have a music therapy registration or certification from a music therapy association in another country (not only a degree in music therapy). These applicants are already eligible to write the CBMT exam.
This category has a 1-year limit and is only available one time per individual.
Membership in this category invalidates the member from accessing the “Pre-credentialed – Returning” category in the future.

 

Pre-Credentialed – Returning
$69 – Anyone who was previously a member of CAMT and is pursuing the MTA Credential.   

Additional Information
To qualify for this category you must have already successfully completed a 1000-hour music therapy internship.
This category is not available to individuals who have had their MTA credential terminated due to non-payment or non-reporting of CE credits.
This category has a 1-year limit and is only available one time per individual. 
Membership in this category, invalidates the member from accessing the “Pre-credentialled – International” category in the future. 

 


TIMELINES AND PAYMENT OPTIONS

CAMT’s membership year runs from January 1 to December 31 for all members.
Renewal fees are due on January 1 and a late fee of $20.00 is applied as of January 15.
New members can apply at any time.
Dues received after July 1 will be credited to the next membership year for new members.
Payments can be made by cheque, credit card or e-transfer.


 

EXISTING MEMBERS

 

Certified Music Therapist (MTA)
$236 – Anyone with the MTA credential

Additional Information
Access to liability insurance will not be available to those who pay after January 15.

 

Certified Music Therapist (MTA) – Graduate Student
$84 – Anyone with the MTA credential who is enrolled in part-time or full-time graduate studies. 4-year timeline unless exception approved.

Additional Information
Access to liability insurance will not be available to those who pay after January 15.

 

Certified Music Therapist (MTA) – Inactive
$69 – Anyone with the MTA credential who is not currently working in the field of music therapy including clinical practice, research, supervision or education but wishes to maintain the MTA credential, completing the requirements to do so (ie. annual membership fees and CE tracking) – this also applies to those who are retired and wish to maintain the MTA credential.

Additional Information
Access to liability insurance will not be available to those who pay after January 15.

 

Certified Music Therapist (MTA) – Lifetime
No charge – Anyone with the MTA credential who has   been awarded a Lifetime membership or who  has  received the Norma Sharpe award and wishes to maintain the MTA credential, completing the requirements to do so (ie. CE tracking and profile update).

 

Retired
$69 a previous MTA who wishes to continue as a CAMT member, receive member benefits, but will no longer hold the MTA credential.  

Additional Information
This category is only available to Certified Music Therapists (MTA) who indicate in writing to CAMT while they are still a Certified MTA that they have retired from music therapy work but wish to continue as a CAMT member to receive member benefits.
This category is not available to individuals who have had their MTA credential terminated due to non-payment or non-reporting of CE Credits.

Pre-Credentialed – Music Therapy Student
$69 – Anyone in a music therapy undergraduate or graduate program.

Pre-Credentialed – Music Therapy Intern
$69 – Anyone who is completing a CAMT-approved music therapy internship. 2-year timeline unless exception approved.

Partial refunds on membership fees are not available when moving between membership categories
or if a membership is terminated.
A prorated fee is required when returning to the Music Therapist Certified (MTA) category mid-year. Members can contact the CAMT office for more details.
